Kathleen’s Story
Designing homes has been the passion of designer, Kathleen Stanley, as early as Middle School. In High School she studied drafting and continued the same field in college. After college, she began working for a fortune 500 company, Caterpillar Inc., drafting, checking and entering drawing data for the construction equipment manufacturer. The job required high-level detail and accuracy. At Caterpillar, she met her husband and they built their first home together. Kathleen drew the plans for this house in 2002 and a new career was launched – design, construction, remodeling, landscaping and decorating. She studied architecture and landscape design and became proficient with home styles and all tools of the trade. She remodeled two of her own personal homes and enjoyed doing most of the construction projects herself, including sheet rock, hard wood floors, tile/marble work, lighting and plumbing fixtures. She even taught herself the art of stucco and with the help of an expert, she stuccoed her entire house in St. Petersburg, FL. She described this experience as a child playing in dirt and mud which she loved to do when she was young.
Kathleen now has designed over 200 homes all over the Southeastern United States. Many homes are built on Ocean Isle Beach, NC where she resided. Others are in Myrtle Beach, Cherry Grove, Sunset Beach, Calabash, Holden Beach, Emerald Isle, Oak Island and more. Now she lives in South Florida and has designed plans down to the Florida Keys. Besides the beaches, she has home designs built on the mainland as far in as Fuquay Varina and Apex, NC. She continues to design approximately 2-3 homes a month for the same beaches, islands, and mainland areas in the Southeast.
